Hi Everyone

Below please find below, the Zoom Link for our Sunday Morning Service, to be held in Newlands South Church on Sunday, 2 October 2022 at 10.30 am. The Order of Service for Sunday is attached.

We are delighted to welcome Revd James Whyte to NSC this Morning.  Many of you will know that James was the former Minister of Broom Church and is now a member of Giffnock South Church.  We are privileged to have James conduct our Communion Service this Sunday.

Unfortunately, the problems associated with the sound during the Live Stream are not yet resolved.  Consequently, there will be no Live Stream link to YouTube this Sunday, while we attempt to find a solution.  The Zoom link will function as normal.  Details of the Zoom link are embedded at the end of this email.

Following on from the good news re our Cluster Mission Plan last week, I am meeting with the Session Clerks of the Cluster grouping on Tuesday evening this week to take forward joint worship and working initiatives which we can undertake in the near future until the Presbytery Mission Plan is implemented in January 2023.  I am also meeting with Presbytery on Saturday, 8 October at 3.40pm in Burnside, Blairbeth Church.

  • Tea and coffee will be served in the Blair Hall after the morning service.  All are welcome.
  • Alan McPhee, our Organist, would like to thank everyone who has donated spectacles for the project in Uganda.  Alan has been overwhelmed by the number of spectacles received.  They will all be put to good use..
  • The next meeting of the Ramblers will take place on Saturday, 15 October leaving from the church at 9.15 a.m.  This will be the first attempt at car share since the first lockdown. Therefore, Margaret Anderson will need to know who will be attending the ramble, to ensure that there is sufficient transport provided.  The destination is Whitelees Windfarm.  Margaret Anderson’s contact details are 07842166035; margaret@andersonweb.info.
  • The church office will be open on Monday to Friday of this week, 9.00am until 12 noon.
  • The Retiring Offering this Sunday is in aid of a very worthwhile, local charity– Horatio’s Garden within the Spinal Unit at the QEUH here in Glasgow.  We are delighted that Lorna Rice, one of the volunteers at the Garden, also sister of Donald Blackwood, is going to inform us of the invaluable work that is carried out at Horatio’s Garden through a brief resume, she will deliver prior to the service commencing.  Please remember your cheque book/cash on Sunday and give as generously as you are able.  Please do not forget to Gift Aid your donation if applicable.
  • The restoration work in the lower halls of the church, after our flood last year, continues apace.  We are hopeful that work will be completed, and the halls restored to full use by the end of the month, or perhaps earlier!
